Dentist & Dental Visit: 18 Everyday English Words

Learn practical English for a dental visit: appointments, staff, teeth, cleaning, common procedures, insurance words and simple instructions.

Learning objectiveRecognize common dental-clinic words well enough to follow ordinary check-in, examination and appointment conversations without turning the lesson into medical advice.

What to do

Dental visits mix everyday words with a few clinic-specific terms. Start with people and objects you can see, then connect them to common instructions such as open wide, rinse and bite gently.

The goal is scene familiarity. Knowing a word such as cavity, filling or referral helps you understand a conversation, but it does not diagnose a dental problem.
